AFM Safecoat Watershield
Safecoat WaterShield is a clear, versatile, controlled penetration water repelling sealer which provides an invisible barrier against water and resists oils, grease and similar liquids. It is fast drying, has excellent adhesion, and is easy to apply.
In addition to sealing and providing a protective barrier against water migration, it helps to harden, dust proof and control efflorescence in masonry surfaces. It is not toxic, non-flammable, lead and formaldehyde free and does not contain surface contaminating silicones, making it a desirable coating for interior or exterior use. Dries clear and does not discolor.
USE ON:
AFM Safecoat Watershield can be used on porous cementitious materials such as concrete, stucco, brick, block, terrazzo and unglazed tile.Â
COVERAGE:
One gallon of Safecoat WaterShield covers approximately 250-300 square feet in one coat depending on method of application and surface porosity. THINNING: No reduction is required.
APPLICATION:
Always use adequate ventilation. Apply one coat with brush, roller, lambswool applicator or low pressure spray. When applying AFM Safecoat Watershield on vertical surfaces, start at the lower level and spray upwards. Flood until Safecoat WaterShield runs to assure complete saturation. On horizontal surfaces allow to sit for about ten minutes and remove any excess. Try to avoid puddling. Note: before using, check with water on test areas to be sure there is penetration. If there is none, do not use. Note: these instructions are intended to be general only and not exhaustive. The applicator should determine which preparation and techniques are best suited to the spe- cific surface.
CLEAN-UP:
Clean tools and equipment while still wet with a solution of SafeChoice Super Clean and warm water.
DRYING/CURING TIME:
Under normal conditions, Safecoat WaterShield dries within 2 hours and cures hard in 24 hours. Normal conditions include a clean, dry surface, access to fresh air flow, a dust free environment, moderate humidity, and temperatures above 55 degrees F. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat WaterShield to dry and cure more slowly.
